Family Encounters Programme 2024 Call-Out

We are delighted to be partnering with Imaginate for the first time to commission a new walk-about performance for family audiences.

The commission will be performed as part of Family Encounters at the National Museum of Scotland on Saturday 25 May 2024 and in an outdoor Aberdeen location at Light The Blue on Saturday 8 June 2024.

We are inviting proposals from artists based in Scotland who would like to create a new walk-about character(s) or performance to present at both events. We are particularly keen to hear from artists based in or with a connection to Aberdeen and the North-East.

Selected companies and artists will receive:

• A budget of up to £4k to cover artists and creative fees, materials, travel, accommodation, per diems, and stage management support.  You do not need to create a budget for the application, if chosen we will create one with you.
• Production consultation and support, including dedicated meetings to cover risk assessments and technical requirements.
• Free space in an Aberdeen Performing Arts venue or National Museum of Scotland to develop the piece, subject to availability.
• Support and a separate budget to cover any costs associated with your access needs (we use access riders for all creatives involved in our projects).
• Technical and Front of House staff at both Festival events.
• Professional photographs taken at Family Encounters and Light The Blue for use in your own marketing and future promotion.
