BBC SSO 22/23 Season
BBC SSO 22/23 Season
We’re delighted to announce that the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra will return to Aberdeen Music Hall next Season with five brilliant concerts, once again featuring some of the world’s great conductors and soloists.
The Season opens on Friday 30 September as the orchestra’s former Artist-in-Association Matthias Pintscher conducts a concert featuring Richard Strauss’s beautiful Oboe Concerto and Schumann’s youthfully sunny First Symphony. Associate Conductor Alpesh Chauhan returns with a popular blockbuster, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, paired by a performance by the outstanding Spanish cellist Pablo Ferrández. Sir Donald Runnicles conducts Mahler’s monumental Ninth Symphony, and the orchestra’s new Chief Conductor Ryan Wigglesworth conducts Elgar’s passionate Second Symphony, in a concert that also features former BBC Young Musician, cellist Laura van der Heijden.
Of course, the Aberdeen Season is not complete without the annual Christmas Concert presented, as ever, by Jamie MacDougall and conducted by Roderick Dunk.
