You were so fixated on what time you’d be arriving; you miscalculated the amount of time it would take to arrive at the station.
After a quick glance at the clock, you stuff your pockets, swiftly grab your case, swipe your latest reading material, and launch yourself out the door.
With a handful of minutes to spare, you arrive at the station. You rest your hands on your knees, head hanging, fighting the urge to keel over and take up permanent residence on the cold floor.
Before that idea can take hold, you snap your head up to the many displays showing the boarding times.
It’s due to leave any minute, and as usual, it’s still not displaying the relevant platform. You ask an attendant if they can help and in a gruff tone, they reply,
“You should be in luck because it’s the platform with the second shortest route. Now scram!”

Hint #2 → The route you are looking for is the second shortest one. 1 would be the shortest one, so it can’t be that platform.
Hint #3 → If you count the blocks for each route, 1 is the shortest with 7 blocks, 2 with 10 blocks, 3 with 11 blocks and 4 with 8 blocks. So, platform 4 has the second shortest route.
