Case #1 - Chapter 8

Whodunnit?

After the initial shock passes, everyone moves at once.

Staff are alerted and the authorities are notified. The carriage is sealed off as passengers are ushered into the dining carriage.

Your eyes begin to scan the faces of everyone in the room.

You begin to gather statements one by one. There is a single false statement.

Can you figure out who is lying?

Hints

Highlight the text below to see the hint.

Hint #1 → There’s 3 truths and 1 lie. We’ll need to find some contradicting statements, but let’s start with some truths. Our lady in pink has no reason to lie about her meal and doesn’t contradict with any others. So, it’s safe to assume this is a truth.

Hint #2 → We’ve narrowed it down to 3 statements. If Greg is telling the truth then Humboldt’s statement must be a lie. However, that would mean Ulysses is also lying, and we know that can’t happen because there’s only 1 lie.

Hint #3 → Greg’s statement contradicts both Humboldt and Ulysses. And Beatrice doesn’t contradict anyone. Therefore, Greg is the one who lied. He did leave the carriage at some point.

Got the answer?
