Aberdeen Performing Arts receives increase in funding from Creative Scotland

Aberdeen Performing Arts is pleased to announce that it has been awarded an increase in its Multi-Year Funding application to Creative Scotland. This vital support will enable the arts organisation to continue delivering high-quality cultural programmes, despite the ongoing pressures of escalating costs.

The award highlights the trust Creative Scotland places in the organisation, which runs His Majesty’s Theatre, the Music Hall and the Lemon Tree in the city, as well as five festivals per year, outreach programmes and creative engagement projects.

Sharon Burgess, CEO of Aberdeen Performing Arts, said: “This additional funding from Creative Scotland is a ringing endorsement of the impact we have on the region’s cultural life. This support will enable us to not only tackle rising costs but also grow our services and inspire even more communities across Aberdeen and the wider area.
“The outcome allows us to continue delivering exceptional cultural services to our audiences and communities. We will work creatively and strategically to maximise this funding, ensuring the quality of our programmes and services remains at the heart of what we do.”

Edel Harris OBE, Chair of Aberdeen Performing Arts, added: “This increased funding highlights the significance of arts and culture in fostering socio-economic growth in our region. “It empowers us to remain at the forefront of creativity and community cohesion, providing vital opportunities for people of all ages.”

While there are still challenges to address, particularly with rising operating costs, the investment demonstrates the recognition of the vital role of Aberdeen Performing Arts in the North East of Scotland, creating opportunities and strengthening the economic, cultural and social stability of the region.
