Call-Out for Submissions – Scratch

Light The Blue Youth Arts Festival 2022

Deadline: Friday 13th May at 11pm

Calling emerging young creatives aged 16-21 based in/around Aberdeen.

Interested in testing out a new performance piece in front of a live, supportive audience?

We’re looking for submissions of work-in-progress performance material to be programmed as part of Light The Blue youth arts festival’s Scratch event on the evening of Friday 17th June.

Have you been working on new scripted work, spoken word, movement, stand up, music, digital work or something else that hasn’t been seen by a public audience yet? Would you like to test it out in front of a live audience, be mentored by a professional artist and be offered feedback to help you develop your material?

We anticipate offering 5-15 minute slots to up to 6 young artists with exciting new material that could be performed at the Lemon Tree with limited technical requirements. There is no set theme and no expectation of the material being fully rehearsed – you might perform script in hand or share a few snippets of ideas you’re playing with. We suggest a maximum of 4 performers per act – ideally you would assemble your own team, but we might be able to support.

Whilst most work will be performed on stage with a seated audience, we’re open to considering different ideas – if you have something unconventional in mind, get in touch.

Selected performers will be required to attend a short rehearsal at the Lemon Tree in the lead-up to the event and be available for the full evening on Friday 17th June. Travel expenses may be available for selected performers.

To submit, please complete a short online form via the following link by Friday 13th May at 11pm: https://forms.office.com/r/NqNZphQPeW
