NEWS - Jam For Climate Justice call out

Aberdeen Performing Arts is pleased to offer this commissioning opportunity as part of Climate Week North-East at the Lemon Tree. Following on from the success of our Jam for Climate Justice gigs in 2022 and 2023, we are seeking four singer-songwriters who are passionate about the climate conversation. Working closely with another artist, you will write a new song on the topic of climate justice. Each duo will present their song to a live audience at the Lemon Tree. You will also be invited to perform a 20-minute solo set.

Who can apply?

We are looking for applications from singer-songwriters who are willing to be paired up with (potentially) a total stranger to create a new masterpiece! You’ll ideally have experience of live performance and either be local to the North-East of Scotland or willing to travel here for the performance. A passion for climate justice is a must, and we’d be particularly excited to hear existing work which centres on this theme.

We accept applications from individuals and duos who have not worked together before. Please note we are not looking for people who have already worked together. If you apply as an individual, you’ll be paired up at random with another performer.

Other important information:

• Fee: £600 fee plus travel expenses
• Performance date: Thursday 21st March 2024 at the Lemon Tree
• Rehearsal space: Optional rehearsal space at the Lemon Tree will be offered depending on each duo’s availability and proximity to the venue. More information about this will be given to successful applicants nearer the time.
