Aberdeen Performing Arts Announces Departure of Craig Pike, Board Chair

Aberdeen Performing Arts announces with mixed emotions the departure of Craig Pike from his role as Chair of the Board, a position he has held with distinction since 2014, culminating in over 12 years of dedicated service to the organisation.

During his tenure, Craig has been a pivotal figure in steering Aberdeen Performing Arts through both challenging and prosperous times. His leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic provided crucial support to our executive team, helping sustain our operations during an unprecedented global crisis. Additionally, under Craig’s guidance, Aberdeen Performing Arts celebrated significant achievements, including the notable refurbishment of the Music Hall, which stands as a testament to his commitment to enhancing the cultural landscape of Aberdeen.

Craig’s involvement extended far beyond the boardroom. Over the past three decades he has contributed to more than 30 shows at His Majesty’s Theatre as performer, director, musical director and writer. He has contributed his many talents to the annual Student Show, productions by The Lyric Musical Society, and as a founding member of Flying Pig Productions. He has been a key artistic contributor to several milestone moments including as co-director of Light the Lights, the first performance in the redeveloped HMT in 2005 featuring a host of local theatrical talent. His unique ability to blend strategic leadership with creative expression has left an indelible mark on our organisation.

As Craig steps down, we reflect on his impactful contributions and the enduring legacy he leaves at Aberdeen Performing Arts. While he will be greatly missed in his official capacity, we are delighted that his journey with us will continue from the other side of the footlights. We eagerly anticipate his upcoming performance in this year’s production of “Sunshine on Leith” and look forward to his future endeavours on stage and as a supporter of Aberdeen Performing Arts.

Edel Harris OBE will now formally take over as the new Chair of the Board, having been appointed earlier this year. Edel brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective that will undoubtedly propel the organisation towards new heights. We look forward to her leadership and the innovative directions she will introduce.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Craig for his decade of service, leadership, and passion. Aberdeen Performing Arts is a better organisation because of his involvement, and we wish him all the best in his next chapter.
