Audiences at His Majesty’s Theatre can expect a thrilling murder mystery, an enchanting Disney favourite, family entertainment, a ground-breaking new musical and singing sensations in 2023 with five amazing new shows announced for the city theatre.

Agatha Christie mystery The Mirror Crack’d comes to His Majesty’s from Tuesday, 28 February – Saturday, 4 March, Sing-along Encanto will enchant audiences on Wednesday 12 April, Magnets 80s Rewind will bring the hits on on Saturday 15 April, Eden Court’s  award-winning The Stamping Ground is a must-see from Wednesday, June 7 – Saturday, June 10 and Hey Duggee will delight young theatre-goers on Thursday July 6 and Friday July 7.

Aberdeen Performing Arts Director of Programming and Creative Projects, Ben Torrie said: “The irresistible suspense of an Agatha Christie mystery is always a firm favourite with us at Aberdeen Performing Arts, and The Mirror Crack’d promises to be a thrilling evening of entertainment, while The Magnets will be full of fun and great tunes when they come to His Majesty’s Theatre in April. With family favourites like Disney’s Sing-along Encanto and Hey Duggee there will be a great opportunity for younger theatre-goers, and of course we are so excited to be welcoming The Stamping Ground to Aberdeen, where it is sure to make its mark next June.”

Agatha Christie’s The Mirror Crack’d is set in 1960s England, where a new housing estate is making the villagers curious and fearful. And even stranger, a rich American film star has bought the Manor House. Jane Marple, confined to a chair after an accident, is wondering if life has passed her by. Then there is a vicious murder, and Miss Marple must unravel a web of lies, tragedy and danger.

Starring Susie Blake as Miss Marple (Victoria Wood’s As Seen on TV, Coronation Street, Mrs. Brown’s Boys), Sophie Ward (A Very British Scandal, Holby City, Land Girls) and Joe McFadden (Holby City, Heartbeat and Strictly Come Dancing 2017 winner), this adaptation of the famous novel promises to bring real emotional depth and psychological insight to a thrilling story of revenge and the dark secrets that we all hide.

The Magnets are the UKs No.1 A Cappella super-group featuring the hottest vocal and beatboxing talent on the international a cappella scene and London’s West End. The band have revolutionised British a cappella by combining virtuosic beatboxing with glorious harmonies, and have gone on to become a must see act on the international music scene, playing festivals and theatres worldwide.

Their richly varied career has seen them sign a major record deal with EMI and release four albums. They have performed alongside music legends including Blondie, Bryan Adams, Tom Jones, The Black Eyed Peas, Gregory Porter, Rick Astley and The Kaiser Chiefs to mention a few and play private shows for supermodels, heads of state and royalty.

Eden Court’s award-winning musical The Stamping Ground will be coming to Aberdeen’s His Majesty’s Theatre from June 7-10, 2023.

Filled with rousing new arrangements of Runrig’s best loved songs, The Stamping Ground is an uplifting new musical about love, life and the land.

When together-forever couple Euan and Annie return home, they’re seeking a fresh start for their teenage daughter. But there’s a heatwave in the Highlands and they soon find themselves lost in this once familiar place, now filled with more tourists than residents.

The Stamping Ground is a Raw Material and Eden Court Highlands production and won a CTAS award for Best Music & Sound.

From the producers of Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music and Sing-a-Long-a Frozen, comes Sing-a-Long-a Encanto, the brand new smash hit film musical of 2021 about the Family Madigral with lyrics on screen that everyone can’t stop singing.

Cheer on Mirabel as she tries to save the magic surrounding the Encanto.  Sing your heart out with our live host, who will teach you some dance moves, help you create some magic and show you how to use your free props bag.

Fancy dress is strongly encouraged and full audience participation essential in this screening of the much-loved Disney favourite.

The new shows join recently announced upcoming Music Hall appearances from Tide Lines, Mogwai, Suede, KT Tunstall, and Romesh Ranganathan in the 2023 Aberdeen Performing Arts 2023 calendar.

Tickets go on sale to Friends of Aberdeen Performing Arts on Thursday, September 28 and on general sale on Friday, September 29, available from www.aberdeenperformingarts.com, phone (01224) 641122 or visit the box office at the Music Hall or His Majesty’s Theatre.
