The Terrace, overlooking Union Terrace Gardens, is the perfect spot to enjoy pre-show dining, delicious lunches and light bites, breakfasts or just relaxing with friends over coffee and cake. With a focus on fresh ingredients offering a wonderful menu and seasonal specials, let The Terrace be the star of your show.
Open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am.
*The Terrace is open until 9pm on the evening of a show but may close earlier on days on non-performance days.
Christmas at The Terrace
The festive season is coming to The Terrace! Pre-show meals, Christmas party nights and festive afternoon teas are all on the menu this December.

Afternoon Tea
Festive Afternoon Tea at The Terrace
Join us in the beautiful surroundings of His Majesty’s Theatre in December and the first week of January for our magical festive afternoon tea.
Enjoy a selection of sandwiches, savoury treats and assorted cakes with a choice of teas and coffee for only £20 per person. Festive afternoon teas are now available every Tuesday to Saturday with booking slots available between 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
Please note, to help us give you the best possible experience pre-booking and pre-payment is required. Simply book your table in the form below, go through the steps and look forward to starting your weekend in style!
A gluten free afternoon tea is available, simply add your dietary requirements during the booking process.

Booking is open for light lunches, afternoon tea, coffee, and cakes, as well as pre-show dining, evening meals and cocktails.
Visiting for lunch or just want to take in the views with a cuppa? We’re open from 10am and there’s no need to book a table in advance.

How can I book a table?
You can book your table directly via the online booking system. Alternatively, you can call our Box Office team on 01224 641122 (10am–6pm, Tuesday–Saturday) or visit any of our Box Offices where our team can assist you with your booking.
Do I need to book in advance or can I just walk in?
You don’t need to book a table in advance and you can drop in for drinks whenever you like. However, we do recommend booking in advance over busy periods.
How far in advance can I book?
You are able to book pre-theatre dining for all 2023 shows at His Majesty’s Theatre.
Where can I have a look at the menu?
Pre-show dining will include light lunches before a matinee or meals with an evening show. Our catering team focus on fresh ingredients offering a tasty menu, with local influences and seasonal specials. You can view the menu here.
Dietary requirements – Please highlight any allergies or dietary requirements at the point of booking, and this will be followed up by our team on arrival at The Terrace.
Can I come to The Terrace if I’m not going to the show?
Our bar and café is open throughout the day and is open to everyone whether you are coming to a show or not, but bear in mind that table bookings slots are based on pre-theatre dining.
Will there be a Friend’s discount?
There is a 10% discount available with a valid Friend’s card for food and non-alocholic drinks at The Terrace.
