Nicci French is the pseudonym for the writing partnership of journalists and married couple Nicci Gerrard and Sean French. Their novels have sold in excess of 15 million copies worldwide published in thirty-one languages. The Last Days of Kira Mullan is their 26th novel and asks the question, if you can’t trust herself, can anyone else? They are joined on stage at Granite Noir by Ambrose Parry, aka husband and wife writing duo Chris Brookmyre and Marisa Haetzman. Their latest novel, Voices of the Dead, was shortlisted for the CWA Historical Dagger for Best Historical Crime Novel 2024. We are delighted to welcome these true partners in crime to Granite Noir 2025.

About the Speakers
Ambrose Parry
Ambrose Parry is a pseudonym for a collaboration between Chris Brookmyre and Marisa Haetzman. The couple are married and live in Scotland. Chris Brookmyre is the international bestselling and multi-award-winning author of over twenty novels, including Black Widow – featuring a skilled female surgeon – winner of both the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year and the McIlvanney Prize for Scottish Crime Novel of the Year. Dr Marisa Haetzman is a consultant anaesthetist of twenty years’ experience, whose research for her Master’s in the History of Medicine uncovered the material upon which their novels are based.
Nicci French
Nicci French is the pseudonym for the writing partnership of journalists Nicci Gerrard and Sean French. The couple are married and live in London. There are 26 novels by Nicci French, including the bestselling Frieda Klein series, published in thirty-one languages. Their latest was a Richard & Judy Book Club pick. They have sold in excess of 15 million copies of their novels worldwide.
