About the authors
Mari Hannah
Mari Hannah is a multi-award-winning author whose authentic voice is no happy accident. A former probation officer, she lives in rural Northumberland with her partner, an ex-murder detective. Mari turned to screenwriting when her career was cut short following an assault on duty. Her debut, The Murder Wall, won her the Polari First Book Prize. Her second picked up a Northern Writers’ Award and her body of work won her the CWA Dagger in the Library 2017, an incredible honour to receive so early in her career. In 2019, she was Programming Chair of Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival and was awarded the DIVA Wordsmith of the Year. In 2020, Mari won Capital Crime ‘Crime Book of the Year’ for Without a Trace. Her Kate Daniels series is in development with Sprout Pictures.
Neil Lancaster
Neil was born in Liverpool but grew up in Kent, leaving aged seventeen where he served for six years in the Military Police with the RAF. He left the Metropolitan Police in 2015 where he served for over twenty-five years, predominantly as a detective, leading and conducting investigations into some of the most serious criminals across the UK and beyond. Since retiring from the Metropolitan Police, Neil has relocated to the Scottish Highlands.
Imran Mahmood
Imran Mahmood is a practicing barrister with almost 30 years’ experience fighting cases in court. He hails from Liverpool but now lives in London with his wife and daughters. His debut novel You Don’t Know Me was chosen by Simon Mayo as a BBC Radio 2 Book Club Choice for 2017 and longlisted for Theakston crime novel of the year and for the CWA Gold Dagger, and is currently being adapted for screen in four parts. When not in court or writing novels he can sometime be found on the Red Hot Chilli Writers’ podcast as one of the regular contributors.
William McIntyre
William McIntyre is a partner in Scotland’s oldest law firm Russel + Aitken, specialising in criminal defence. William has been instructed in many interesting and high-profile cases over the years and now turns fact into fiction with his string of legal thrillers featuring defence lawyer, Robbie Munro.
Based in Scotland and drawing on his thirty years as a criminal defence lawyer, there is a rich vein of dry humour running through the series, which William describes as an antidote to crime fiction featuring maverick cops chasing serial killers, emphasising that justice is not only about convicting the guilty, but also about acquitting the innocent.
