Overview

Light the Blue 2025: Standing Tall Murals

Standing Tall Scotland, and Guardianship Scotland are proud to unveil a vibrant new mural co-created by visual artist Ursula Kam-Ling Cheng and a group of young people from displaced backgrounds living in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Cheng, a leading mural artist, has worked with these young people to deliver a series of creative workshop, providing provocations, working responsively to art created by the young people, and building upon their ideas, creations and imaginations to create this final design. The work is a powerful expression of hope and strength, and the process has enabled young people to connect to one another and co-create a piece of art that reflects the richness of their cultures and experiences. Cheng has captured the creativity, curiosity and innovation of the young people in this large-scale mural, and it provides a rare opportunity to see the potential of a group of young artists who are underrepresented in the Scottish arts scene.

This is a celebration of all the young people supported by Standing Tall Scotland and Guardianship Scotland.
