Murky Medical Mysteries of Aberdeen – A Walking Tour (Aberdeen Science Festival)
Join historian and author Dr Fiona-Jane Brown on a walk exploring the murky world of Aberdeen’s early medical professionals, including the city’s first infirmary at Woolmanhill, the anatomists and their students who raided graves for fresh bodies, Dr Skene who demonstrated the “galvanic battery” on the corpse of a murderer 2 years after the novel Frankenstein was published, and the grim beginnings of Aberdeen’s first maternity wards in the Guestrow.
NOTE: This is a walking tour. Not suitable for children under 12, dogs or those with limited mobility.
