Audition Call-out for The Show For Young Men
Introduction
Audition Call-out for The Show For Young Men
Guesthouse Projects and Aberdeen Performing Arts
Join the Cast of The Show For Young Men
Guesthouse Projects and Aberdeen Performing Arts are looking for a boy aged 8–11 to become part of a new cast of The Show For Young Men.
The Show For Young Men is a performance about a friendship between a man and a boy. Through play, dance, and working with objects from a building site, they create a world together – one that is joyful, tender and full of possibility.
We’re looking for one young boy from Aberdeen to help create a new version of the show alongside a professional dancer before touring it across Scotland during Spring and Autumn 2027.
You don’t need to have danced before. You don’t need acting experience. You won’t need to memorise lines.
Every version of The Show For Young Men is created around the people who make it, so we’re much more interested in who you are than what you’ve done before.
Perhaps you enjoy climbing, dancing around the house, making up games, playing football, being outdoors or simply spending time with other people. If you’re curious, playful and enjoy moving, we’d love to meet you.
The young performer will receive an honorarium of £900 for taking part in the project.
The Audition
Saturday 5 December 2026 11am – 1pm
Tutti Studio, Music Hall, Union Street, Aberdeen
Rather than a traditional audition, you’ll be invited to spend up to two hours with Guesthouse Projects’ Artistic Director Eoin McKenzie and the professional dancer who performs in the show.
Together we’ll play games, move, improvise, imagine and get to know one another. The workshop is designed to feel more like an afternoon of making and playing together than a formal audition, giving everyone the opportunity to participate in their own way.
The workshop is open to 15 young people.
Parents and carers are welcome to leave during the workshop, but we ask that they return for the final part of the afternoon so we can talk together about rehearsals, touring and any questions you may have.

Following rehearsals, the production will tour across Scotland during Spring and Autumn 2027. Touring will mostly take place on Fridays and weekends, with no more than ten weekends of touring across the year.
How do you apply?
If you’d like to come along, please ask your parent or carer to email info@guesthouseprojects.co.uk with:
- A recent photograph.
- A short paragraph telling us a little about you and why you’d like to be involved.
Applications are now open.
This is a chance to make new friendships, work alongside professional artists and help create a performance that will travel across Scotland. We believe great performances begin with genuine human connection, and we can’t wait to meet the people who will help shape the next chapter of The Show For Young Men.
