Meeting Mateo
Linda had scheduled some time to introduce you to the department. But, just as you were about to step into the meeting room she was corned by another important looking fellow. A stocky bloke with a frame so wide he took up most of the doorway.
The door closes behind him and a moment passes before you hear Linda’s voice bellowing from the inside.
“She’s a fearsome one, aye.” A new voice joins in.
With both ears stretched towards the door and your attention focused on what was going on in the office, you didn’t notice the neatly dressed man behind you.
“Sorry. Didn’t mean to startle you.” The moustached man takes a step back.
“I’m Mateo,” his hand outstretched. “Nice to meet you.”
You reach up and return the kind gesture.
“Want me to show you around? They might be awhile,” his hand rubs the back of his neck. “Your muscles will seize up if you stay cramped up in that tiny chair. But hey, you’re young so maybe it doesn’t matter. Actually wait- how old are you? I’m 44,’’ Mateo asks.
You answer, “Add another decade and you’d be twice my age last year, sir.”

Hint #2 → It’s not as straightforward as adding 10 years and halving that number. That would be the age last year.
Hint #3 → If you add 10 to 44. You get 54, which is twice as old as you were last year. Meaning you were 27 LAST year how old are you THIS year?
